Rachel Mitchell was elected to the Upper Darby School Board in 2013 and is currently running for re-election to the Upper Darby School Board. Rachel, her husband and two children have been residents and homeowners of Drexel Hill for the last 11 years choosing to raise their children in the Upper Darby community. Rachel is committed to strengthening and maintaining our community’s educational excellence within fiscal constraints and advocating for a fair funding formula from the state.
Rachel possesses a MSW from Rutgers University and has worked as a social worker advocating for the needs of her clients. Rachel is a product of public schools and believes that our communities public schools are vital to the strength of our community. Rachel is active in our schools, community and her church were she serves as a volunteer on the youth leadership team. Rachel has served on the district parent involvement program, the district’s comprehensive planning committee, volunteer with the home and school, a co-chair of the School Board’s Education and Pupil Service Committee from 2014-2017.
Rachel’s work on the school board since 2013 has focused on advocating for the return of reading supports to our students, well rounded programing for our middle schools, professional development for our staff, ensuring climate and culture programming, evaluating class size concerns, and planning for the future needs of our schools and community. Rachel has also been a tireless advocate for fair funding.
Rachel is committed to our School District and ensuring a plan for educational excellence for the future of our communities that fosters Student Achievement, Fiscal Responsibility and Safer Schools.
